A floor-standing vanity sits solidly on the floor rather than hanging off the wall, and that brings two real advantages for local homes. First, storage: the cabinet runs all the way to the ground, so you get deeper drawers and a taller carcass to swallow the everyday clutter of a busy family bathroom. Second, it’s far more forgiving. Plenty of older Illawarra homes — the weatherboard cottages around Thirroul, the post-war brick-and-tile places through Figtree — have floors and walls that are anything but square, and a floor-mounted or kickboard cabinet hides small level differences that a wall-hung unit would put on display. We stock floor standing vanities from ADP, Timberline, Fienza and Otti.
If you want the vanity to be the feature of the room, the Otti Havana is where we’d start. It’s a floorstanding curve design finished in a deep Sable Walnut, with full vertical fluting that wraps softly around rounded end profiles — the sculptural, tactile look driving current bathroom trends across the coast. The 900mm cabinet (890(L) × 490(D) × 830(H)mm) is built from high moisture-resistant plywood with a matching Sable Walnut interior, and carries two soft-close drawers with a fitted organiser. It pairs beautifully with a fluted round above-counter basin. It’s part of a curve range spanning 600–1800mm, so we can scale it up or down to suit your Wollongong ensuite or main bathroom, and it’s also available in Woodland Oak.
Not every floor-standing vanity has to be big. The ADP Charlie is a compact 450mm-wide floor-mount unit made for powder rooms and tight ensuites — and because ADP manufactures right here in Unanderra, choosing it supports local Illawarra industry and gives you a made-to-order product. The contoured solid-surface basin (Gloss White, 1L, 160mm projection with a left or right tap hole) clears a swinging door where space is minimal, while the slim 135mm cabinet projection keeps the whole footprint tight against the wall. Behind the single soft-close door — hinged left or right — is an internal shelf sized for toilet paper, and it comes with a universal chrome plug and waste. Choose from the full ADP cabinet range, including Boston Oak Woodmatt and Raw Birch Ply Natural.
The Australian-made Timberline Oxbow is the hard-working all-drawer vanity we point families toward when storage is the priority. In its floor-standing configuration it sits on a neat recessed kickboard plinth, and it’s offered across six size bands from 400mm right up to 2100mm — so whether you need a slimline unit for a single ensuite or a double-basin run for a shared family bathroom, there’s a fit. Top it with an Alpha, Regal, Stadium or 20mm SilkSurface slab and choose above- or under-counter basins, then finish it in any Timberline woodgrain or painted colour with your pick of handles, including the clean Fingerpull option. It’s backed by a 10-year warranty — a genuinely long-term choice for an Illawarra renovation.
When you want a double-length vanity but the room can’t spare the depth, the Fienza Siska Slim earns its keep. It’s a 1205 × 365 × 850mm floor-standing unit on a kickboard, and that slim 365mm depth is the whole point — it delivers a generous 1200mm of bench and storage while barely projecting into a narrow bathroom or hallway ensuite. The Satin White finish is a practical 70% matte / 30% gloss blend that wipes clean easily, topped with a durable gloss white ceramic basin-top (12 o’clock tap hole standard, three-tap-hole option available). A U-shape fingerpull channel keeps the front handle-free, with soft-close doors and drawers on full-extension runners. Note it needs a 32mm waste with overflow, which isn’t included.
Floor standing isn’t the only way to go. If your bathroom is small and you want it to feel more open — or you’d rather be able to mop right underneath — a wall hung vanity may suit you better. And once the vanity’s sorted, the right shaving cabinet or mirror adds storage and bounces light around the room. The easiest way to decide is to see the finishes in person: visit our Unanderra showroom with your bathroom measurements and our team will help you match the right size, depth and basin to your Wollongong or Illawarra home.
